Here's the latest creation~ A perfect Blue and Black Houndstooth Tilt/ Topper Cocktail Hat with Black Bird Cage Veiling. I just love this little hat!!!

 I get a lot of inspiration from Rita Hayworth, especially from her 1944 Movie~ Cover Girl. There's so many lovely hats and toppers worn in this movie. I would highly recommend seeing this picutre, it has wonderful music and costumes through out the movie. A fantastic Classic.

A Flapper's Night Out~ at a Modern Speakeasy

Ah, The Highland Tap, this Martini Bar and Restaurant is what I would call the perfect Modern Day Speakeasy. My boyfriend and I love this place, their drinks are fantastic (all their martinis come with a cute little side car for refilling), their food is amazing well done and deliciously simple( try their mini oscar), and it's like taking a step back to the roaring days of 1925. This little underground eatery is a perfect example of getting a speakeasy right. After stepping through the street access enterance, your taking down a dimly light stair case, which to me looks a little bit hauted, but through another door way you enter the restaurant and bar.  I just love this place, and if your ever in the Atlanta area, this would be a place to check out.

A Flapper's Jungle Expedition~

Well okay, I wasn't really on some expedition, but it kind of looks like it, with the trees, and dead leaves all over the ground~  any way, I thought it was a good title for this post and pictures.

This Little Cocktail Hat just went up for sale on My Etsy Shop, and I just think it's the cutest thing, it really reminds me of something Dita von Teese would wear out on a beautiful night. ~A Flapper's 1930's Geisha Inspired Outfit~

I know I haven't blogged in a couple of days, but I've been so under the weather, with it being flu season and all, I've basiclly been in bed for two days straight. Yuck~  But with all that time I had, I was able catch up on all the movies I've recorded off of my favorite channel~ TCM. I was finally able to watch Gone with the Wind, all the way through, without my boyfriend interupting me. That movie is truley one of my favorites!

So after being stuck in bed with the flu for two days, I was extremely anxious to get back to looking glamorous again. This outfit is one of my personal favorites, and it's super comfortable to wear. Very Japanese Geisha inspired~

A Flapper's How To~ Spice up Your Veiled Cocktail Hat

Bird Cage Veiling~ It's a wonderful way to add more of a vintage feel to any Cocktail Hat, plus also adding a sense of class to your look.

Now, I love veiling, especially Bird Cage Veiling, and I think it brings more of that "Sex Siren" appeal to it's wearer, but I sometimes can't stand it always hanging in front of my face, and having to peer through those diamond shaped holes.

I have a solution~

You may need a couple of pins~

By taking the ends of the veiling, start tucking and rolling the veiling  underneath it's self. Start heading up towards the hat base, still rolling up the veiling. After tucking the veiling under it's self,  place the rolled up veiling, which now looks like a big puff,  and place it as close to where it's attached on the hat, and  spread the veiling around the top of the base. Get the veiling postioned in the way you want it to look, and then pin in place.

It's a great way to get the veiling out of your face and your eyes, but it's also a great way to make you hat look new, and more Avant Garde looking. It's like an instant make over for your Cocktail Hat!

A Flapper's~ Thursday Afternoon Blues~

Ah, it's Thursday, so close to Friday, and I feel I might be coming down with the Thursday's Blues this afternoon. I'm feeling a little bit trapped, hence the photos above, and have been really wanting to get out, and exprience something new.
Thinking I might hit up the Star Bar tomorrow night, and see Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys. Check it out.
